ISLAMABAD: Two senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) spat venom against each other’s party outside the Supreme Court (SC) building following an argument over who would talk to the media first.
PTI’s Naeemul Haq and PAT’s Khurram Nawaz Gandapur used insulting words for each other, as the former occupied the podium – reserving it for party chief Imran Khan – and the latter tried to steal the ‘limelight’ just minutes before the media talk.
Naeemul Haq reportedly pushed Gandapur off, prompting the PAT leader to ask about the reason for that rude behaviour.
The PTI spokesperson said that Imran Khan was coming and he would talk to the media first. This infuriated Gandapur and he started abusing the PTI leader. “They call themselves a democratic party and this is their behaviour when they are in the opposition. How will they run democracy when they come into government?” he said.
Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmad intervened and told both the leaders to behave “during the live coverage”. The PAT leader said he would bring the matter to the knowledge of Dr Tahirur Qadri.
