KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) had asked National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) investigating officer on Tuesday to bring forth the material and a detailed report against Dr Asim’s brother-in-law Khalid bin Shaheen.
Sources said that during a proceeding relating to NAB’s investigation regarding Khalid, the prosecutor said that Khalid was being investigated in the two references against Dr Asim. He added that Dr Asim had made revelations about Khalid in the Joint Investigation Report. NAB claimed that Khalid formed a company by the name of Home Remittance and he transferred millions abroad in an illegal way. To this, Khalid’s attorney replied that Rangers as well as Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had grilled him for three hours and had still not revealed to him what he was accused of.
The court had summoned the investigating officer on 14 June with material against Khalid and a detailed report for further proceedings. Dr Asim who was also a close aid of former Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari and a Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader, was arrested on charges of corruption and financial embezzlement.
