LAHORE: An accountability court on Friday allowed plea bargain of accused retired brigadier Muhammad Arif Khan in a fraud case of Rs 54 million and ordered his release.
Judge Najamul Hassan Gillani conducted the proceedings of the case. During the hearing, NAB’s prosecutor submitting the plea bargain application apprised that the authorities concerned had approved the plea bargain of the accused as he had agreed to return his share of fraud money.
He requested the court to order release of the accused while allowing the plea bargain application. At this, the court allowing the application ordered release of the accused.
Arif khan, in connivance with others, fraudulently withdrew Rs 54 million from the funds of project ‘A Defence Canal Road’ through bogus vouchers by fabricating the documents pertaining to irrelevant Khasra numbers, which were neither the part of the land acquired for the project.
