PESHAWAR: Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Khyber Pakhtukhwa (KPK) Muhammad Atif Khan said on Thursday that due to priority to female education by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led KPK government, the ratio of girls’ schools has increased to 70 per cent.
He added that for the first time provincial government was establishing the first ever girls’ cadet college in the province that shows its interest towards female education. He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of government girls’ primary school Daag Behsud constructed under Refugee Affected and Hosting Areas (RAHA) program at Nowshera. UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi also addressed the ceremony.
The minister said that due to wave of terrorism, extremism and militancy, the education sector particularly female education was badly affected and ratio of school going girl students was reduced to great extant. He added that however the efforts of present government have resulted in an increase again and the focus on female education was necessary for the bright future of the nation. He also said that quality of education is as important as infrastructure development and roads network in progress of the nation. He said that the education is the mega project of PTI-led present government and it has allocated a big chunk of the budget for this important sector.
